About
The Brooksville Statement on Marriage was designed as a declaration of Christian conscience as a response to the incredible cultural confusion related to this vital topic. In simple, clear language the framers of this document have sought to articulate a compassionate, yet unflinching position to declare what Christians believe about God's design for marriage.

Authors
The primary author of the Brooksville Statement is Rev. Matthew Everhard, the Senior Pastor of Faith Evangelical Presbyterian Church, in Brooksville Florida. After consultation with various other pastors and theologians, the session (elders) of Faith Church approved this statement as their official position on marriage on Wednesday August 8th, 2012. The elders of Faith Church include: Rev. David Franklin, Dr. George Boring (clerk), David Peeler, Gwynn Blair, Scott Knight, Doug Dempsey, and David Field.

Why is it Called the "Brooksville Statement?"
Like many other documents, this statement simply takes its name from the city of its origin. Like the Heidelberg Catechism, the London Baptist Confession, the Manhattan Declaration, or the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy etc. this brief statement is simply named from the town in which it was crafted.

Brooksville Florida is a small, rural town in Hernando County Florida, one hour from Tampa and Orlando, on the gulf coast.
